Cornwall is renowned for having some of the UK's finest beaches, each with different characteristics and charm.

Crackington Haven

(1 Mile)

A small, majestic cove set in an area designated to be of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with dramatic 400ft cliffs, numerous rock pools teaming with wildlife, offering a large stretch of golden sand at low tide. Ideal for families. Crackington is recommended by the Marine Conservation Society in their Good Beach Guide as achieving the highest of UK Standards.

Facilities:

Toilets, an excellent Public House, and two fantastic Cafes/Beach Shops. Crackington Haven is Lifeguarded by the RNLI during July and August.

A cove just around the corner from Crackington Haven, accessed at low tide.

Strangles

(2 Miles)

A stunning walk leads down to a magnificent sandy beach, extremely quiet even in the busiest of seasons. An impressive location flanked by Highcliff to the South, the highest sheer drop cliff in Cornwall of 732ft! There is a strenuous climb back up, thus this beach isn't suitable for all! Parking is available in the layby at the top.

Millook

(3 Miles)

Millook is located on the coastal road from Crackington to Widemouth Bay. an amazing pebbly beach designated to be a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to the geology of its zig-zag cliffs formed in Carbonic times. This beach is always extremely quiet. Parking is along the roadside, with easy access to the beach, the road itself is well worth a drive!

Widemouth Bay

A very popular sandy beach with both surfers and bathers, often rather busy during the summer holidays. A 1.5 mile long beach, split in two at hightide.

Facilities:

The North Beach offers Lifeguard cover from the beginning of May to the end of September, whilst the South Side (known as 'Black Rock Beach') is lifeguarded from the middle of May to the end of September. Car Parking, Public toilets and a Cafe are available at both beaches.

Bude

Located 7 miles north of Mineshop, Bude is much busier and more commercial and has two main beaches:

Summerleaze is located in the middle of the town. A picturesque large sandy beach featuring a breakwater, Lock gates, Barral Rock and an Open-Air Sea Pool. Summerleaze has a large pay & display carpark, public toilets and a beach office which hires out sand wheelchairs and beach huts. Lifeguard cover is provided from the begninning of May to the end of September.

Crooklets is home to Budes Surf Life Saving Club, it is a more pebbly beach popular with surfers. Facilities include a cafe, pubs, public toilets, outside shower, beach huts. Crooklets is also lifeguarded from the beginning of May to the end of September

Bossiney

(8 Miles)

Located to the South of Mineshop in an area steeped in the mythology of King Aurthur. A walk down steep steps leads to the breathtakingly stunning sandy beach. Attention should be paid to the tide as most of the beach is reclaimed at high tide. Car Parking is available in a near by lay-by
