Only 24 kms. of A Coruña, in this town bathed in Mandaean and its tributary the Mendo numerous fairs are held throughout the year. Betanzos was named by the Romans as 'Brigantium'. It sits on the hill where once stood a fort in the back of the Ria de Betanzos, where sea water merges with the Mandaean sweet and Mendo. It was one of the seven capitals of the Old Kingdom of Galicia and was declared a historic-artistic. Three Gothic churches give character: Santiago, Santa Maria do Azogue and San Francisco. The latter contains charismatic medieval tombs. Also remarkable are the manors of Benda, Taboada and Lanxós tower, and an amazing park, 'O pasatempo' whose craftsmen, immigrants in America, anticipated the concept of the modern theme park.

Chelo's place, declared in 1972 Picturesque is a very specific stretch near the river mouth Mandaean, which forms the estuary of Betanzos.
