The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

This is an area of woods and lakes. Some of the lakes have man made beaches and facilities for canoeing.

There are golf courses within 1 hours drive from the gite. Within 20 mins of the gite there are caves with prehistoric paintings. The area is good for walking and exploring.

Summer is usually quite warm and there are various markets and festivals always going on in the area.


Le Puy is within 1 hour drive of Limoges airport with flights to and from East Midlands, Stansted, Leeds/Bradford and various other airports in the summer season.

Also 1 hour away are the towns of Perigeux and Angouleme with their cobbled streets and good shopping facilities. Brantome is also a half hour drive away with its weekly market and canoeing on the river. There is a good selection of restaurants and shops,

The best market in the area is at Piegut, just 20 minutes away where there is a wide selection of market stalls and cafes where you can sit and watch the world go by.
