Santa Eulalia del Río is a coastal town on the south eastern seaboard of the Spanish island of Ibiza. Santa Eulària is the third largest town on the island and also has the only river on the island which flows into the sea at the western end of the town.
There are two Hippy Markets which attract large numbers of tourists and locals: Punta Arabi, located in Es Canar runs all day every Wednesday from April through October. Las Dalias, near Sant Carles, runs all day every Saturday, throughout the year. Las Dalias also has a "Night Market" which runs Monday and Tuesday evenings from June through September.
This little village or residential area is almost joined to its big sister town, Santa Eulalia, but it is separated from it by the one and only river in the entire Balearics. The river crosses nearly half the Island, but most of that is dry. The only part of the river that has water is what divides Santa Eulalia and Siesta which is only a few hundred metres long. It has two bridges crossing it and the one in Siesta is an unusual suspension bridge near to where it meets the sea. The bridge is near the five start hotel Fenicia.
Unlike Santa Eulalia, Siesta is built on the side of the nearest mountain overlooking the Bay of Santa Eulalia and the sunrise, but separating both from the next bay of Cala Llonga - a long and strenuous, but beautiful coastal walk away.
Predominantly a seasonal resort it has, nonetheless, some fine restaurants and is only a few minutes walk along the beach away from the heart of the cosmopolitan town of Santa Eulalia. The main part of Siesta is made up of private apartment blocks and luxury villas.
