Yayla is a beautiful, stone villa with its own pool nestling happily on the edge of the hillside in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is situated next to the pine forests and overlooks the Uzumlu valley. There are three air conditioned en suite bedrooms: perfect for three couples or a family of six. Uzumlu is a traditional Turkish village with a relaxed village square with a mosque, tea houses, mini supermarkets & a few restaurants. The people are very friendly. The village is famous for its wine and lace making and is known for its fine grapes. The word 'uzum' means “grape“. Many of the local women make & sell their goods in the local shops such as scarves, table cloths, curtains & other linen products. On the walk to the villa, you will often see grapes hanging from traditional farm holdings with chillies drying with sheep and goats wandering down the narrow lanes.
There is a large, fully enclosed garden with spectacular views over the Taurus mountains. The garden is on two levels. There is a private pool, an outside shower, a stone barbecue, sun beds and fruit trees on the upper level. The fruit trees include fig, pomegranate, mandarin, lemon, satsuma, plum, peach, orange and olive trees. There is a step down to the lower level. Here you can relax and drink tea in the traditional Turkish kosh (a gazebo with cushions) and marvel at the stunning views overlooking the village.
Moving into the villa itself, on the ground floor, there is an open plan kitchen and a light, spacious living room (with a high ceiling) and a bedroom. As you walk though an arch into the living room, you will find a stone fireplace and a tastefully decorated living room with three sofas; a 3 seater sofa and two 2 seater sofas. There is a range of DVD's and a selection of Turkish novels to read. The bedroom can be made up as a double or 2 singles. As it is on the ground floor, it is good for children & is also suitable for disabled access. All bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning & en suite bathrooms.
On the upper floor there are two large, spacious double bedrooms. Bedroom one has a comfortable king sized bed (or 2 singles). Bedroom 2 has a double bed. Both rooms have balconies with spectacular views of the Uzumlu valley & surrounding mountains.

There are many opportunities in the landscape and the local environment for artists to gain inspiration for their creativity. For historians, this part of Turkey offers a range of historic attractions from the ancient Lycian ruins in Cadianda, a 500 B.C Roman village, 6 km away to Kayakoy 'ghost village' 30 minutes away and also Letoon, Xanthos and Sidyma. For walkers, there are beautiful tracks in the pine forest and the Uzumlu valley. For more energetic hikers, there is the Lycian Way. For children there is a park with a slide & swings in Uzumlu and an aqua park in Fethiye. There is also horseriding, quad biking, paragliding (from Babadab mountain near Oludeniz), sailing, scuba diving and white water rafting.
Nearby beaches: Calis (15 mins drive) known for its spectacular sunsets with a protected area for turtles at the far end of the beach, Oludeniz (40 mins drive) the famous blue lagoon with its calm, gently sloping waters which are safe for young children
A bit further away: Patara, a beautiful, sandy windswept beach (1 hour's drive south of the villa) Izutzu Beach, a beautiful sandy beach (which is the nesting ground of the loggerhead turtle) near Dalyan (1 hours drive north of the villa: experience the mudbaths here) Sarigerme, a sandy beach good for windsurfing & sailing.
There is also a golf course at Sarigerme.
