Folkestone, very traditional with plenty of things to do.
Margate, you can look at the Turner contemporary and then take a short walk to the long sandy beaches of margate, whilst the children can enjoy the amusements.
Area's for walking and enjoying nature:
Blean ancient woodlands, Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve, Larkey Valley Wood, Reculver Country Park & Reculver Towers and Grove Ferry is an ideal spot for picnicking in the meadows.
Should you wish to see London, it is only a 56 minute train ride away from Canterbury West just a 5 minute walk from the apartment.
The apartment is situated a 5 minute walk from the City centre, which makes the apartment ideal for those who really want to experience life in Canterbury.
Not only can you spend hours looking at all of the history and amazing buildings here, you can enjoy shopping, a relaxing walk along the River Stour (which is next to the apartment) and plenty more.
There is a great park for children in the complex where they can run around and climb all day, you can feed the ducks along the river, enjoy boat rides, the parks, Canterbury ghost tour, or Whitstable beach which is only a ten minute car/bus ride. During July/August the famous oyster festival is held in Whitstable and is great fun for kids, adults and young people. Canterbury is home to the famous Kent County Cricket grounds which is a great day out for all of the family (particularly for the men that need a break)
There is also the Marlowe Theatre in the City Centre, that always hosts great shows, live music and performances. A must see for families is the Canterbury Tales.
Eating and drinking:
You can also experience traditional English pub lunch and beer at The Parrot only a few minutes walk away perfect if you really want a taste of Britain. You can also enjoy a variety of different cuisines here, Possillipo's is a personal favourite, it is a very traditional Italian restaurant that will make your mouth water! The Ancient Raj is a great Indian restaurant, there is also an amazing fish and chip shop called City Fish and Chip bar, in the town centre that is famous for great tasting food.
La Trappiste is great for lunch and has a lovely roof terrace, they often have live bands playing so keep an eye out (great night out)
For those interested in the nightlife here, The Cuban is a great night out particularly on a Saturday night, The Ballroom, The Old Brewery Tavern, the Butter Market and the Penny Theatre are all great places to go and enjoy drinking and dancing.
