The West Country region

Sidmouth is the main town in East Devon, most of it an Area of Outstanding Beauty, along the oldest part of the Jurassic Coast that stretch from Exmouth into Dorset.

East Devon has beautiful unspoilt rolling countryside and miles of sandy and pebble beaches from Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth to Seaton and Lyme Regis.

Inland towns like Ottery St Mary - birthplace of the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, with its collegiate church and Tar Barrel Rolling on Bonfire Night, and Honiton, famous for lace, pottery and antique shops, are well worth exploring, as are the lovely thatched villages of Otterton, Broadhembury, Gittisham and Branscombe, and the traditional fishing village of Beer, not forgetting the historical cathedral city of Exeter.
