Wondeful place to relax with family and friends. An idyllic summer holiday retreat, but also, thanks to central heating, a cosy log fire and huge squashy sofas a perfect destination for a Christmas/New Year getaway or for an autumn or winter break. The house is extremely spacious, allowing guests to be as private or as sociable as they wish.

While many of our guests enjoy just chilling out by the pool, relaxing by the river bank or picking raspberries for supper, the more energetic will find the villa a perfect launchpad for exploring the local area or going further afield for various cultural, sporting and gastronomic activities, including trips to the busy and colourful local markets, which are such an essential feature of French life.

Children are specially welcome and as well as cots and a crib we can provide pushchairs, highchairs a changing mat etc. to make travelling a little easier. Just let us know what would be helpful and we will do our best to provide it.

Our rates are fully inclusive and we offer guests a simple welcome meal on the first evening which includes some of the excellent local wine.

We live a short distance away, and are always happy to help should guests need any assistance or advice.

The secluded one acre garden has a 90 metre frontage to the Dordogne river. A childproof gate protects wandering toddlers. There is plenty of running around space for children as well as outdoor games such as table tennis, croquet and badminton.

A large barbecue built from old local stone is situated near a huge round table shaded by mature trees. In addition there are other smaller tables strategically placed to take advantage of sun and shade.

There is parking for at least 4 cars .

Guests are welcome to help themselves to strawberries, raspberries, artichokes and any fruits in season as well as to the comprehensive herb garden placd outside the kitchen window.

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

This is a region of outstanding beauty with rich and varied scenery. From the vineclad hills, mountainous gorges, and peaceful river valleys of the interior to the white sandy beaches and the picturesque fishing villages of the coastal area , there is something to please everyone.

Wine lovers will enjoy the many opportunities for tasting provided by nearby chateaux where you will receive a warm welcome alongside some wonderful wines. We can help you find placeswhere excellent wine is made for extremely modest prices.

In addition, world famous vineyards, such as those at St. Emilion, Pomerol and the Medoc welcome interested wine lovers. Bustling, vibrant street markets enchant with displays of ultra fresh and seasonal produce. Lively fairs, festivals, and celebrations keep ancient traditions alive.

The area is steeped in history, reflected in ancient bastide towns and châteaux.

Cities too: Bordeaux, one of the great cities of France, and Bergerac, the town of Cyrano, offer museums, galleries, churches, shopping , and fine dining. to. the discerning visitor.

Flaujagues

Flaujagues is a small village on the Dordogne river between the bastide town of Ste-Foy-La-Grande, with its famous Saturday morning market, and Castillon La Bataille, which celebrates the end of the 100 years war with spectacular summer Son et Lumière recreations of the last Battle. (Not to be missed!)

The village is a kilometre from the villa and has a restaurant; a bar and a shop/post office. Bread is available from 8a.m.

The world heritage wine town of St. Emilion is nearby. Drive , through the spectacular vineyards , stopping for free tastings when you fancy. Stroll along the banks of the Dordogne. Stop at a trucker's Routier for lunch, or dine in a Michelin rated restaurant in a nearby village.

Bikes can be hired and delivered. Nearby Pessac has canoe and kayak hire. Tennis courts at Pessac and Gensac. Horseriding approx 10kms away. Golf is at Château Vigier, a half hour's drive. Go-karting is near Bergerac airport (30 mins). Special treat for children, a chocolate tasting at the Guinguet chocolate factory, near Duras (30 mins).

Nearby Gensac (7kms) has doctors, a pharmacy, a mini supermarket; bakers and bars, and one of the region's best restaurants. : The award-winning, Les Remparts, with its glorious views across the Dureze valley. (Ask for a table on the terrace.) On request, with just a little notice, the chef is happy to prepare delicious vegetarian meals .
