West Dorset is one of the most beautiful and diverse areas in England. There is a depth of history and heritage about the place, manifesting itself in locations such as Maiden Castle, the Cerne Giant and of course the Jurassic Coast, England's only natural World Heritage Site, and a walker's paradise..
Fernhill is in a beautiful woodland setting in an elevated position. From parts of the estate you get a views of the sea and also Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast! (The cap itself is just a few miles away and you can walk to it from Charmouth).
The charming coastal village of Charmouth is a downhill stroll away, or a few minutes in the car. Charmouth is famous for it's fossils and there is a museum dedicated to fossils and the Jurrasic coast down by the beach. There are organised fossil hunt walks from the museum.
Just a couple of miles to the west lies Lyme Regis, a historic and very popular seaside resort famous for it's 'Cobb' harbour. The slopes down towards the harbour have been landscaped in recent years giving it a fresh parkland feel.
For dining and enjoying a drink - first choice is the well equipped kitchen / dining area within the property itself!
If you wish to go out but leave the car behind just stroll a hundred metres or so to the Fernhill Hotel with it's fine restaurant and well appointed bar (wi fi access for patrons).
Alternatively there are a couple of well rated and historic pubs in Charmouth, or a choice of pubs and restaurants a little further away in Lyme Regis.
The busy market down of Bridport is 9 miles to the east, with shops, 2 supermarkets, cinema, pubs and restaurants.
