The garden features a small children's playground with swing, climbing wall and slide. The apartment has room by room controlled underfloor heating, solid oak floors and ceilings and plenty of light. The train also makes the 3 minute journey to the centre of the main village of Grindelwald, should you choose not to walk. There is an Intersport rental shop very close by (50m) as well as a supermarket (400m). The apartment is almost ski in (50m). Further skiing is available at nearby Murren on the high slopes of the Schilthorn, famous for being the location in the James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".

There are plenty of books to read and an ipod doc and turntable in the living room for your use, so if you are a vinyl lover, bring some along!. You'll find card games, backgammon, board games and a selection of younger children's toys. There are plenty of modern conveniences including cable TV with English, French, German and Italian channels and more. Free wifi is also available. The Jungfrau Region

The unspoilt town of Grindelwald is in the Bernese Oberland, which is considered one of the most stunning mountain-scapes in the Alps. It is 70km from the capital city of Bern, which is a UNESCO Heritage site. The charming towns of Thun and Interlaken are also nearby, which are situated on the jaw droppingly beautiful twin lakes of Brienz and Lake Thun. Here there is sailing, fishing and swimming in the summer. Between skiing, snow boarding, hiking, climbing, paragliding and mountain biking, the region offers equally entertaining winter and summer fun. It is served by excellent rail links to all major Swiss cities, which in turn connect well to the rest of Europe.

Grindelwald

Winter

Grindelwald is a family friendly resort. Using the Jungfrau region pass, there is access to

Grindelwald First, Wengen (including the world famous Lauberhorn) and skiing on the

Schilthorn, the scene for 007 "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", catered for by the car free

village of Mürren. There is over 250 km of skiing, with plenty of off-piste and snow parks. It

has good restaurants and aprés ski bars, a sports centre with indoor pool, slides, sauna,

climbing wall and ice rink, and additional spa facilities in many of the larger hotels. It has

fantastic skiing for all levels and boasts the longest sledge run in Europe (15km). At the top

of the Mannlichen cable car is a lovely warm and friendly crèche which accepts children

from 6 months old, and another good creche at Bodmi in First. Grindelwald and Wengen

play host to the international Lauberhorn downhill ski race in mid January and Snowpenair

concert in early April.

Summer

In summer, this region of the Bernese Oberland is considered one of the most beautiful

moutainscapes in the Alps. Hiking, moutain-biking, mountaineering, outdoor swimming in

various lakes and pools, and paragliding are amongst the many varied activities available.

The village outdoor swimming pool is 50m from the apartment. The area is not purpose

built for skiing, and its main industry is cattle and goat farming, so there is an all year

round natural infrastructure.
