Camber offers miles of beach filled with sand! and glorious sand dunes. The beach is a great place to spend time with your family and friends. Kite Surfing, wind surfing etc just down the beach - try it and all your family can watch! The Gallivant Bistro offers a great place to dine at any time as does The Rye Bay Cafe which has just opened with delicious food and drinks - trip of the beach straight into tea, supper or lunch. The Kit Kat Cafe on the beach at Camber is a great place for a coffee or snack.
Salts Farm Shop sells local produce, meat and vegetables and an array of other produce - must visit during your stay.
5 minutes drive into the center of the Medieval town of Rye which is steeped in history. A guided tour around Rye is highly recommended. The area is full of history, Battle (20 min drive) where the Battle of Hastings was fought, to Norman's Bay where they landed (25 min drive). Smugglers of Romney Marsh, National Trust Properties to be seen, Gardens to be viewed such as Great Dixter (10 min drive), steam trains rides. Camber Sands "miles of sandy" beach is a 10 min drive.
If you would like to ride a bike you can hire one in Rye at the bike shop to use during your stay. Again, so many places to enjoy bikes rides including the many coastal paths... Camber, Rye to Brighton!
The Rye / Camber Sands area
Close to Camber is Rye which s full of local restaurants, pubs & cafe's. The cobbled streets have numerous independent shops, from the Rye Deli, Butchers, Bakers, Cheese Shops, Old Fashioned Sweet Shops & Simon the Pie Shop whose pies are out of this world! There is also a local supermarket & a couple of banks in Rye.
To treat yourself you could always go to The Rye Retreat for a day of pampering!
Rye Market on a Thursday where you can buy some beautifully made & produced local food. There are many markets held locally to visit.
Unique to Rye is the Rye Scallop Festival that takes place in February each year. Stay at The Castaway & try the Scallops at the various restaurants & pubs or just buy & cook your own.
Wine tours to be taken and wines to be tasted! at one of the many vineyards locally... from Carr Taylor, Sedlescombe Organic Wines, Biddenden Vineyard and Sandhurst Vineyard. Have lunch and try one of the wines that you have just seen.
