The Crete region

The largest of the Greek Islands, Crete is a beautiful island offering plenty to see and do for everyone. From relaxing on the sunkissed beaches and basking in crystal clear water to hiking through spectacular mountains and visiting the island's many ancient archaeological sites and museums.

The island is loved for its warm climate and friendly, welcoming locals. The local culture is centred on good food and lively music and you'll always find a welcome at the many local concerts, festivals and village celebrations.

Mirtos

Mirtos is famous as one of the most beautiful villages in Greece. With a friendly, laid-back atmosphere, the village is ideal for families and couples who want to explore a little off the beaten track. The village's many cafesbars and tavernas offer a host of excellent quality eating-out options, while the local bakery, grocery stores and butcher are excellent value for those wanting a quiet night in.

There's plenty to do in the village - with a stunning beach of volcanic sand, a museum of local history, three archaeological sites, hundreds of hiking trails and lots of places to eat and drink.

If you'd like to explore further afield, then there's a local bus service to the nearest town, Ierapetra as well as to neighboring villages.
