Kingsdown Holiday Park is set within the White Cliffs Country area of the Kent coast with attractive vistas across the English Channel from the cliff top location. There is access to London either by car (M2/A2) or train (Dover, Deal or Walmer stations) and high speed options are available. Gatwick, Heathrow and Manston airports are easily accesible and the Channel Tunnel and ferry links to Calais and Dunkerque are within 10 km's. The historic city of Canterbury is within half an hours travel with its magnificent Cathedral and many other attractions such as the Canterbury Tales based upon Chaucers story about the medieval journey of travellers along the Pilgrims Way. Going north lies the beautiful sandy bays of Broadstairs and the Turner gallery in Margate looking out to sea. Going south the seaside town of Folkestone with one of the only remaining sea water propelled cliff lifts in the UK and the hidden gem of the Lower Leas with an extensive childrens play facility and interesting rock pools at low tide.
The Deal area remains steeped in history with the little changed village of Kingsdown at its heart. The history of Kingsdown dates right back with it providing a popular stopping point for walkers and cyclists travelling the Saxon Shore Way. The unspoilt foreshore of Kingsdown with its shingle beach designated a site of special scientific interest, the Zetland Arms and a scatter of traditional colourful beach huts lies a few minutes walk from Kingsdown Holiday Park. As the tide retreats and reveals a delightful array of rock pools children and adults spend many an hour enjoying their search for the shells, crabs and tiny fish within.
The active can enjoy coastal walks or cycle rides along the coast to Deal, St Margarets Bay or Dover and stop along the way for a beaker of tea, an ice cream or a fizzy drink. Make sure you visit the beautiful St Margarets Bay a hidden gem of the local area. Along this route lie the immaculate castles of Dover, Walmer and Deal so if you are a member of English Heritage bring your membership card with you. Dover castle also provides access to the extensive tunnels which provided the Operation Centre for the Second World War emergency evacuation of soldiers from Dunkerque. There is an opportunity to cycle on from Deal to Sandwich or for the less active enjoy a delightful drive or bus ride to this riverside Medieval town with its historical buildings and boats resting by the river.
