The Costa del Sol region

The Costa del Sol is known for its good climate, with over 300 sunny days per year, hot summers and mild winters.

Malaga is a 30 minutes train journey away, and has many historical buildings and a museum in memory of Pablo Picasso, who was born in Malaga. There are numerous tapas bars, and a good shopping centre, including two shopping malls.

Also within easy reach for a day trip are Gibraltar, Ronda and Granada. Several local tour companies offer these, or you can travel independently on very good local bus services. The white villages of Nerja and Mijas are also worth a visit.

Benalmadena

There are three main areas, Benalmadena Costa, Arroyo de la Miel, and Benalmadena Pueblo. benalmadena Costa is the main tourist area, with sandy beaches and traditional 'chiringuitos' (beach bars). It also has one of the best marinas in Spain, with many bars, restaurants, shops and boutiques.

Paloma Park is also in the area, with lakes, a children's play park and small animals and birds roaming about.

Arroyo de la Miel is a thriving Spanish village, and although it has grown over the years, it has kept its traditions with Easter processions and the San Juan feris in late June.
