The Catalunia region

Region:

Costa Brava is a 220km long coastal region of northeastern Spain in the province of Girona. The Costa Brava stretches from Blanes, northeast of Barcelona, to the French border. Its rich culture includes picturesque fishing villages such as L'Estartit and Tamariu, hidden beaches and bays, some of which are only accessible by boat. The average air temperatures range between 24°C and 28°C in summer and in spring between 17°C and 25°C. The water temperature is comfortable for swimming from May 20°C until October and in summer goes up to 24°C.

Sport:

Sailing and windsurfing is still possible in some places, such as in Roses, Palamos and Platja d'Aro and dive spots are the small islands (Illes Medes) before Estartit, the coast at Sant Feliu de Guíxols and since the declaration of the nature park Cap de Creus. For walkers there are a number of designated hiking trails, especially in the Cap de Creus Natural Park and in the coastal mountains between Platja d'Aro and Palamos. There are several golf courses, for example, Pals, Platja d'Aro (Mas Nou) and Lloret de Mar.

Culture:

Costa Brave as a region is very rich in culture and history. Barcelona, with its Sagrada Familia and Park Güell can be reached within one hour, either by car or bus. The Dali Museum in Figueres, la Bisbal (town manifacturing pottery) and many other nice towns are in driving distance.

Food:

Costa Brava is known for its marvellous sea-food, you should not miss trying the famous "Gambas de Palamos" and the delicious anchovies from Escala.

Platja D'Aro / S'Agaro

Platja d'Aro was originally a small fishing village between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Palamós, with a 2 km large sandy beach. It offers a championship golf course (Mas Nou) just around the corner and with its Club Nautica d'Aro, a luxury marina for yachts, a nice place for sightseeing. Relaxed and spacious Villa near the Platja d'Aro city center, with dozens of shops opening 7/7, restaurants, discotheques, etc.

Just one hour from Barcelona and 30 minutes from Girona and Girona Ryanair airport.
