Barley Cottage is an idyllic country hide away with hand restored flag stoned floors and a large inglenook fireplace with original bread oven discovered during renovation. Barley cottage is spacious and open, ideal for a family holiday.

The cottage has been carefully renovated to retain the traditional features of an old 18th century dwelling, whilst including all modern amenities.

A split stable door takes you into the spacious kitchen-diner with its feature inglenook, bread oven, and gas wood-burning stove set in the stone hearth and flagstone floor. The compact easily managed kitchen has oak units, electric cooker, microwave, washing machine, fridge freezer, and of course, all the necessary utensils and crockery. The large oval dining table comfortably seats six.

A three piece suite, and occasional furniture group around the feature brick fireplace in the lounge which has television with DVD / video player and flat screen television. French doors lead into the south facing, secluded garden with patio garden furniture, and adjacent car parking spaces.

The open stair case leads to three bedrooms - one king-size double, one with twin single beds, and a smaller single - all with matched fitted carpets, wardrobes and storage.

Downstairs, the newly renovated bathroom has a white fitted suite including over bath shower with airing cupboard adjacent. The cottage is fully gas centrally heated with double-glazed leaded windows.

What to see and do

The countryside surrounding Bleadon has much to offer for most tastes. Weston-Super-Mare is a renowned family seaside resort with many attractions without being brash, Burnham-on-Sea and the miles of Brean Sands are a short drive away. There is also an extensive Leisure Park with evening entertainment at Brean.

Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Wells Cathedral, Glastonbury, Bath and the Somerset country town of Taunton are all within a short drive, whilst for keen walkers and nature lovers these cottages make an excellent base for exploring the Mendip Hills, Somerset Levels, Quantock Hills – and even Exmoor is less than an hour's drive away.
