The delightful village of Muker is located only one mile away from Scarr House Farm, and is famous for being home to the unique ‘Swaledale' sheep, with their distinctive black heads! Boasting a village store and teashop featuring two Victorian rooms with open fires to while away the hours amongst a cosy setting, as well as a local pub, this tiny village is a haven of peace and tranquillity. The village is also in a perfect location for exploring the wider towns and villages of Swaledale, including Reeth and Hawes. The attractive village of Reeth, for example, boasts a quaint selection of shops, pubs, cafés, a community resource centre and a national park centre whilst the nearby valley of Wensleydale boasts a number of exciting waterfalls and walking trails, which can be enjoyed all year round. Those with a taste for cheese may also enjoy visiting the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, where you can watch the cheese making process. The town also has an open air market, as well as the Dales Countryside Museum and National Park Centre.
