This compact detached holiday cottage is located in the peaceful, historic Mendip village of Priddy, midway between Wells and Cheddar, and provides an ideal base for walking and touring the surrounding countryside and attractions. Priddy's Green is famous for the annual Sheep Fair which has been held since 1348, when it moved from Wells because of the Black Death, and the associated hurdle stack is a distinctive landmark. 'Nine Barrows' (burial mounds) are visible on the horizon from many vantage points. Nearby is the impressive Cheddar Gorge; Wookey Hole Caves and the cathedral city of Wells are at the foot of the slopes; Glastonbury Tor and Abbey are also close. Climbing, gliding, mountain biking, shooting and golf are all possible. Shop and pubs 400 yards, restaurants 5 miles. 5 steps to entrance.
