Localita Loita is a 'balcony' overlooking Lake Maggiore, nestled in the wooded foothills above Baveno and Stresa. With breathtaking views over the lake and the Borromean islands. The property is ideally placed for exploring the area, with a ferry port and train station both at Baveno and Stresa. On the slopes of Mottarone you can ski with views over the Borromean Gulf and onto the Swiss Alps, or if you require more challenging slopes Domodossola is a 40k drive away. There are plenty of walking opportunities through chestnut woods with suggested walks provided by the local tourist office.
Located a short drive from the beautiful lake promenade of Baveno and just outside the sparkling lakeside town of Stresa, this lovely 1 bedroom ground floor apartment is set in the private grounds of a beautifully restored early 20th century villa.
Inside the property is on one level, bright and contempory in style. There is a large open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area boasting magnificent views from two French doors opening onto the balcony, which has a table and chairs for 4. The kitchen is new and well equipped with everything guests may need during their stay, including blender, toaster, electric kettle, microwave, induction hob, oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The living area has a large, comfortable sofa-bed, a flat screen 40" TV with USB port (to connect a table/laptop) and DVD player - should you want an evening in! There is a good size bedroom with a double bed, which can accommodate a cot or small bed. The bathroom has a large corner shower, bidet, wash basin, toilet, and washing machine. An iron and hairdryer are provided. Free WiFi is also available, which we are trying to improve!
There is plenty of car parking within the villa grounds, one of which is just behind the apartment.
The apartment is airy and its location ensures good ventilation, even during the hottest of summer days. Ventidue is my pride and joy and I am always adding to it to make it comfy and welcoming in this amazing part of Italy.
The property is cleaned and checked before each new guest arrives. For hygiene reasons please ensure that dishes and pans are not left unwashed and bins are emptied before vacating.
Check-in 16.00 check-out 11.00.
The cleaning cost of €60 is paid directly to the housekeeper (on site) on key collection and €12 pp for linen, which include final laundering. Should you require a cot or Z-bed these are available from the house keeper for €10 per week and pets are €20 per week or part week - by prior arrangement.

This renowned mountainous region boasts a climate similar to that of the Italian Riviera. It has been frequented by the rich and famous over the centuries – echoed in the beautiful villas – many dating back to the 19th century. The splendid lake promenades, with their attractive restaurants, cafés, bars and shops are adorned with several Art Nouveau hotels.
The Lake Maggiore Express is a perfect day trip by railway and ferry around the valleys and towns surrounding the lake.
You take the train from Stresa to Domodossola, a beautiful old town high in the mountains, then go by the narrow gauge Centovalley Railway to Locarno in Switzerland via the "hundred valleys". This old route winds through many traditional villages and enjoys breathtaking alpine scenery twisting through mountains and alongside waterfalls. In Locarno you can explore the town or take the funicular to the sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso. The ferry leaves Locarno in the afternoon heading back to Stresa but you can also pick it up in Ascona, a little town well worth a visit. This trip can also be done in reverse and a two day ticket is available.
The ferry service in Baveno provides a starting point to visit many places on the lake and the Stresa-Alpino-Mottarone cable car from Carciano will take you 1.491m a.sl. to Mottarone affording sweeping 360° views from the Po Valley to the summit of the Alps and Monte Rosa, and the seven lakes - Lake Maggiore, Orta, Mergozzo, Varese, Camabbio, Monate, and Lake Biandronno. Stresa train station is on the Domodossola - Milan line and it takes approx. 1 hour to the center of Milan (Milano Centrale and Porta Garibaldi), which makes a day trip very easy.
There is a beach at the Lido, public swimming pool, and an aquapark all within easy reach. In the immediate vicinity there are three 8 hole golf courses and the 18 hole Golf Club des Iles Borromées.
If street markets are your passion you will be spoilt for choice, from food to fashion you will not be disappointed! Every Tuesday evening throughout July and August the 'mercatino sotto le stelle' (market under the stars) takes place in Baveno.
The Stresa Midsummer Music Festival runs from July-Sep. The Settimane Musicali di Stresa e del Lago Maggiore takes place in stunning locations on and around the lake in settings framed by antiquity and beauty.
