The Lombardy region

Lake Como has been famous and popular for centuries, due to its unrivalled beauty. It is still popular today for many more reasons: It is within striking distance of many interesting places - Milan, Monza, St Moritz and Lugano, to name just a few. It offers something for every type of holidaymaker from the sporty to chill-out to culture-vulture with water sports, golf, horse-riding, stunning villas and historic churches, shopping to die for (ask for our free designer outlet guide), wine tastings, gourmet restaurants (ask for our free restaurant guide) and some of the best pizzas you will ever taste at only €4 for a pizza margarita, you can't go wrong! It is also home to the island of Comacina and one of the most famous restaurants on the Lake, visited by everyone from Eisenhower to Clooney.

Laglio

Laglio 15km from Como

Laglio enjoys an enviable location on the lower western shore of the lake situated just 10 minutes drive from Como City and 45 minutes drive from Malpensa airport in Milan. It is one of only four villages on the western side of the lake which is by-passed above by the main lake road, making it a tranquil haven. The village has all basic amenities, including small store, bar and a selection of great restaurants, serving local specialties from lake fish to home made fresh pasta. There is also a small public beach. Take up jogging and at around 8am early morning (when in residence at Villa Oleandra) you may catch famous local resident, George Clooney out for his morning jog. It has easy access around the lake via car, bus or ferries in neighbouring villages.

The upmarket village of Cernobbio is only a short drive away with various boutiques, bars and restaurants. A brand new (2013) lakeside lido with pool can be found in Argegno (10 mins drive) and a golden sand man-made beach (20 mins drive) in Lenno.

Villa D'este, one of the most regal and picturesque hotels in Europe is just a short drive away which makes for a magical setting for high class dining whilst the Gato Nero restaurant, a favourite celebrity haunt, perched above Cernobbio is renowned for it's truffle risotto as well as stylish interior and breathtaking lake views.
