The Rhineland/Rhine Valley region

The Middle Mosel Valley around Bernkastel is one of the prettiest landscapes in Germany with the meandering Mosel river. On its steep slopes grow some of the best wines in the world, which will spoil the visitor with many varieties, such as Riesling, Sylvaner, Mueller-Thurgau or the red Dornfelder.

Many historic wine-growing towns are in pituresque settings along the river and within easy reach of Bernkastel-Kues, like Cochem with the famous Reichsburg or Traben-Trarbach, which boasts a huge system of ancient vaulted wine cellars, telling tales from the 19th century, when it was the second largest wine town in Europe, directly after Bordeaux.

Bernkastel-Kues

Our holiday home is located in the historic old town of Bernkastel-Kues. It is only a few steps to picturesque wine bars, quaint shops, caf├ęs and restaurants. On the river there are many day cruises of various lenghs going through the most beautiful stretch of the river. Alongside the river and through the vineyard you will find many walks and cycle paths, and there is a cycle route along the Mosel all the way from Trier to Koblenz.

Bernkastel-Kues is the ideal starting point to explore the Middle Mosel Valley and the beautiful cities of Trier and Luxemburg.
