The Isle of Wight measures only 23 miles by 13 miles, although relatively small the island is blessed with an amazing number of interesting places. The Isle of Wight has over 60 attractions with plenty to do come rain or shine! There are fun parks (Black gang chine, Robin hill) with thrilling rides, animal and bird sanctuaries (Amazon World, Sandown Zoo), carnivals and festivals to delight visitors of all ages.
Wherever you go on the Isle of Wight you will see evidence of a fascinating past, the dinosaurs, Roman villas, medieval castles, historic houses and exhibitions reflect life in a bygone age. Whilst on holiday you may like to visit Queen Victoria's favourite seaside home, the magnificent Osborne House, given to the nation by King Edward V11 and Carrisbrooke castle .
The Lodge log cabin is located in a rural location approximately 2 miles west of Carisbrooke / Newport. This central location means both West and East of the island are easily accessible. The West is generally quieter and less touristy with attractions like the Newtown nature reserve, Carisbrooke Castle, the Needles park, and Blackgang Chine and quieter beaches such as Compton bay, Colwell bay, and Totland bay. The East is generally more touristy with attractions like Osbourne house, Ryde, and Ventnor, and the blue flag beaches at Sandown, Shanklin, and Ventnor. In addition, there is excellent potential for walkers along the Tennyson way or the Isle of Wight coastal path.
