This typical rustic villa is located in the hills surrounding the characteristic mediaeval hamlet of San Dalmazio and the Torre Sillana fortress, with dramatic views over the Cecina valley.

Away from the main stream of tourist traffic, in the middle of woods, fields and nature at its best, La Casina is an ideal place to recapture lost peace and quiet.

The house is cocooned in a pleasant, peaceful garden dotted with fruit trees that create plenty of shade when you need to escape the sun. As for the pool (5x10 m., that's in a bright, open spot, with a paved terrace around it, so there's lots of space for sunbathing, too. Meanwhile, all along one side of the house is a lovely terrace with a covered pergola at one end. It makes a lovely spot for al fresco dining.

Inside, the rooms are fresh and airy, with cool tiled floors and tall, beamed ceilings. There's a substantial feel to the furnishings, while a handsome bricked archway leads from the bright kitchen into the pleasant lounge-dining room.

San Dalmazio (grocery shop, restaurants, bar and post office), lies just 3 km away from the property, whilst Pomarance (all kind of shops and services) 12 km, Volterra 30 km, the beaches of Cecina 40 km, Siena 60 km, Pisa 90 km, Firenze 95.

The Tuscany region

The region is located in the central, western part of the country, north of Rome and south of Genoa. It is bounded by the Apennine Mountains to the North and East, the Apuan Alps on the northwest and by the Tyrrhenian Sea on the West.

From the Etruscans to the Romans to the Renaissance, Tuscany is possibly the best repository of art in the world, from extraordinary paintings and sculpture to frescoes and architectural masterpieces.

Tuscany: a row of cypress trees breaking the blue sky on a rolling hilltop. Olive groves and grapevines marching tidily down the side of a slope. Little medieval hill towns gazing down upon a country that has been carefully cultivated.

Florence is the capital of Tuscany. Other cities are Siena, Pisa, Arezzo, Pistoia, Prato, Lucca, Livorno, Grosseto, Massa Carrara.

Pomarance

Although being ideally situated for a completely relaxing holiday, the property, thanks to its position, is a good starting point both for enjoying the nearby beaches of the Tuscan coast (40 km) as well as the most renowned art centres of the region: Volterra 40 km, San Gimignano 50 km, Siena 75, Florence 80 km, Pisa 90 km.
