Borgo Villa Retrosi è una delle più belle frazioni di Amatrice (Rieti) 1000 mt. Patria dei famosissimi spaghetti all'amatriciana, della gricia e della carbonara. Posta alle pendici del monte cime lepri 2455 mt. nei monti della laga, il sentiero italia s300 attraversa il Borgo Retrosi situato al centro dei parchi Sibillini - Laga - Gran Sasso. Il borgo Retrosi è adagiato sul costone del fiume tronto che nasce poco distante. Il borgo è esposto a mezzogiorno, riparato dai venti e con un microclima eccezionale in tutte le stagioni.
L'idea di realizzare questo progetto alberghiero è nato a un gruppo di amici originari di questo incantevole luogo i quali hanno deciso di adoperarsi per ripristinare immobili di interesse storico andati abbandonati e convertirli in accoglienti appartamenti rispettando le caratteristiche originali degli edifici.

Villa retrosi is an "Albergo diffuso" or scattered hotel located in one village in the Lazio region, close to the town of Amatrice, famous for the superbe rustic Italian cusine few miles from the border with Le Marche, Umbria and Abruzzi regions.
It consists of 20 newly restored charachteristic private apartments/houses close to each other offering large and light furnished rooms, central heating plus traditional fire place, cooking and storage facilities, and views of the national park in wich they are located.
The Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga national park is a beautiful and wild part of Italy's natural heritage, unspoiled by international tourism, is well appreciated by Italian excursionists, horse riders, mountain bikers, bird watchers, and nature lovers in general.
We speak good English and we offer full assistance in your discovery of this natural area, we can organise trekking escursions of 1 or more days, horse riding, mountain bike rental, cooking classes, Italian courses, local farm visits etc.. We have a library with maps and books regarding: local history, Itineraries, cooking, local wild animals, bird watching, arts and crafts etc..
Hunting is prohibited, but fishing is possible in the local lakes and rivers.
A green place in the centre of Italy from where you will be able to spend a day visit to a market or sipping an aperitivo in the medieval towns of Norcia, Rieti and Ascoli Piceno all highly reccomended must see location.
The children friendly Adriatic sea is 1hr away where you could taste the most amazing fish in one of the many beach restaurants.

The best period to visit would be spring, early summer and autumn, being a thousand meters over the sea level means very cold winters, but in the hot Italian months the fresh clean air is well appreciated by the locals and visitors.

Ascoli Piceno and Norcia are close by and they are a must see for any serious Italy's heritage conosseur.
We are inside the national park of Monti della Laga, part of central Appennines, from our village there are many foot paths that will take you to Amatrice(30min walking) or up in the mountains, where the sheppards take their hurds in the summer.
It is a fantastic family place, during the summer the kids will be able to socialise in the pubblic area wich has kids outside games, a swimming pool, a tennis court and a 7 a side football field. And of course a bar with ice creams, coffes, cold beers and wine for the grown up.
