Named after the creek that runs beside it, Queen Branch cottage is an historic Appalachian farmhouse with modern amenities tucked away in a remote (but easily accessible) cove at the foot of the Smoky Mountains in Western North Carolina. The cottage was completely renovated in 2008, but the interior maintains its original charm with bead board walls and oak floors.
The quaint, rural setting is enhanced by its location adjacent to the Queen Branch Preserve - a natural landscape that is the gateway to over 6,000 acres of preserved and protected woodlands extending along the Little Tennessee River. From the front porch in the evenings, you can see the meadow lights up with fireflies; then sun sets over the nearby mountains and the sky fills with stars.
You can choose to spend lazy days fishing, floating, or kayaking in the River, or use the cottage as a relaxing base camp for enjoying all the excitement the region has to offer including: white water rafting through the nearby Nantahala Gorge; mountain biking in Tsali Recreation Area; hiking on the Appalachian Trail or in the Smoky Mountain National Park; hunting for rubies and sapphires at a local gem mine; or take a scenic train ride or a drive to Asheville to visit the lovely Biltmore Estate.
