A magical island holiday!

This cosy modern cottage, consisting of two separate rentable 2-bedroom units, is on the western island of Inishbofin, located in the Atlantic Ocean off Conemara, Galway. The cottage is right beside the Dolphin Hotel, 10 minutes walk from the pub/shop/harbour. 10 minutes walk to the East End beaches, Duach, Rusheen, Horseshoe Bay. Free Wi-Fi. BBQ facilities. Inis Bó Finne (Island of the White Cow), 5 miles long by 3 miles wide, is located 7 miles off the coast from Cleggan village, and serviced by 3 daily ferry sailings.

It is steeped in history and heritage. There is a wonderful natural harbour, characterized by the 16th Century star-shaped fort - Cromwell's Barracks.

With altogether less than 180 residents, the island is renowned for its lively traditional Irish music. A paradise for bird-watchers, artists, environmentalists.

The apartments rent as separate units. For the 2015 season, the ground-floor apartment only is now available.

Gable entrance. Hallway. Two bedrooms, each with 2 single beds. Kitchen-sitting room with flat-screen TV for Dvds; bathroom with instant electric shower and hot-press. Storage heaters. Wooden floors and ceilings throughout. Very well furnished and equipped.

We also provide a selection of books, maps, DVDs, jigsaws and playing cards.

A Welcome Folder has lots of information about the island and activities, important phone numbers and so on.

FURTHER DETAILS OUTDOORS:

There is a patio area with garden furniture facing the sun. There is a gas BBQ unit with utensils & propane gas bottles. Alternatively, we can purchase disposable charcoal trays on your behalf, to start you off.

The cottage is situated on its own ground: 1 acre of bogland with a steep hill up the back. You can climb up a bit and sit above, and enjoy a fabulous panoramic view of the island, the boat coming in, High Island in the distance, even weather fronts approaching!

Inishbofin

INISHBOFIN ISLAND:

Inishbofin is one of the few places in Ireland where a Blowhole can be seen. Sea stacks can be viewed at the Stags of Inishbofin. There are five villages: West Quarter, Fawnmore, Middle Quarter, Cloonamore and Knock. The beaches all around the island are really beautiful, unpolluted and a great attraction also for divers. The island attracts ecologists, bird-watchers, archaelogists, artists, writers.

THINGS TO DO ON THE ISLAND:

MUSIC:

Inishbofin Island is well-known for sessions in the pubs, and the local musicians are always delighted to welcome visiting musicians. There are great concerts on Tuesday nights at the Dolphin Hotel, featuring some of the best well-known Irish singers & musicians. Sessions start up at any time of the day, depending on who is around with a fiddle or flute or voice!
