The Sardinia region

Sardinia is the second large island in the Mediterranean sea, with a typical Mediterranean climate: dry and warm in summer with steady winds- a paradise for sailors and surfers-, in winter an average temperature of 11-17 degrees with some rain showers which makes it also wonderful for a winter break.

The island has been dominated over the centuries by surrounding populations: Phoenicians, Carthaginians, the Roman Empire, Vandals, Berbers, and the Spanish crown, it gained independence in the 18th century and after that became part of Italy. The "Nuraghi" prehistoric dwellings can still be admired in the country side which are now all archeological sites.

The island has beautiful coastlines, with lots of small islands around, inland is hilly and even mountaineous. there are only a few towns ( Cagliari, Alpghero, Olbia, Sassari) and no industry of any importance. So no fear for negative environmental impacts. The interior is very sparsely populated.

Sardinia is home to a wide range of rare and uncommon plants and animals, favored by environmental laws: this region has the largest forest extension.

National parks " Asinara", "la Maddalena", Gennargentu" you should not miss.

Cuisine: seafood, rock lobster, scampi, bottarga. furthermore sucling pigs, wild boar, sheep cheese and special " dry bread" , remember to taste the very good white local wines

Costa Smeralda

The " Costa Smeralda" is 30/40 km north of Olbia ( airport, seaport, town) . The coastline is of an incredible beauty and when Aga Kan in 1970 " discovered" it and developed a few luxury hotels for the rich and the beautiful, it soon became a much loved holiday destination, both for italians and foreigners. The seaside, the wonderful blue-green sea, the white sandy beaches with rocky intervals, outstanding headlines, deep bays and inlets make it all breathtaking.

The farmhouse is at 13 km from the sea : beach Cannigone in the Bay of Arzachena, Arzachena is a little town on which you depend for your shopping, restaurants, entertainment. Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo, Golfo d'aranci,

Baia Sardinia , exclusive seaside resorts with trendy shops, charming boulevards and exclusive night life.
