Ivy House is a beautifully restored townhouse in the historical centre of Ragusa in Sicily. Via Roma which is the main artery of Ragusa is 40 paces away. It is ideally situated to explore the area, bearing in mind that we are in the heart of Commissario Montalbano country. There are many personalised details - paintings by the owner's father and friends, hand-crocheted borders on the bedspreads etc. The stairs are steep so these apartments are unfortunately unsuitable for the disabled.

The Sicily region

Sicily is an incredibly varied island - from the lunar landscape on Mount Etna, to the different beaches - golden sand, black lava rock or shingle.

There are wonderful churches, Greek and Roman archaeological sites and museums to visit.

The fresh fish is unrivalled and of course frush fruit and vegetables of the season.

The wine of this area is becoming more well-known - some recent visitors from Canada were amazed that we can still but a bottle of wine for around £1.20
