Pretty village house, located in the old part of the village. Situated in one of Andalucias "Pueblos Blancos", surrounded by mountains and cork forests. La Casa Azul has a lovely shady roof terrace to relax in, with plants and flowers. The ground floor has a rustic kitchen/diner, fully equipped to cook up a storm, but why bother when there are so many great places to eat and drink in the village! There are also lots of books and dvds in the living room to choose from as well as an extra loo on this floor. The bedrooms are on the next floor with the family bathroom.
The villagers are very friendly and helpful and there is even a tiny shop (that sells everything) opposite the house!
It is also close to the municipal swimming pool and lots of restaurants and bars. This is a perfect family holiday in a typical working village. There is wifi in a bar/restaurant close to the house. Our main shopping and tourist town is Ronda, 35 mins drive away. There is also a wonderful train journey from Estacion de Cortes (5 Kms) that takes approx. 45 mins to Ronda. It also goes direct to Algerciras or Granada. There is so much to explore - cold mountain lakes, prehistoric caves, rivers to swim in, local tapas to eat, festivals and ferias to take part in.......

We are in the middle of three national parks, known for their Cork trees, mushrooms, wild boar hunting, wild deer mating season and the migratory route to and from Africa, for all manner of birds, large and small, particularly Vultures and Eagles of all kinds.
There is plenty to do and see all over Andalucia, from sherry tasting in Jerez, to Kite surfing in Tarifa. Hang out with the glitterati in Marbella, visit the Picasso museum in Malaga, dance the Flamenco in Sevilla. Catch the local train direct to Granada and soak up the atmosphere of the Alhambra. Take a day trip to Tangers in Morocco or stay longer and discover Morocco.
There are the Roman ruins on the coast at Bolonia or Caesers´ healing sulpher baths in Casares. (apparently cured him of something or other quite nasty!) Maybe just go down to the beach in Sabinillas and sunbathe, have some fresh sardines grilled over smoky wood and enjoy a glass or two of a good Fino sherry!
Cortes is a bustling busy largeish village. There are three banks and three big supermarkets, there is a cheap chinese shop and a more expensive gift shop, as well as lots of odd little shops selling all kinds of everything! Cortes suits all pockets. We have at least 23 bars and numerous restaurants, where you can eat "a la carte" or a "menu del dia "(3 courses for around 8€) or have a selection of tapas. There is a disco and a few late night/early morning bars. We have a very under used bullring (I´m not Complaining) a big outdoor municipal pool + bar/restaurant, a petrol station, a tennis court ( yes just the one!) a football pitch and a gymnasium. A Hotel and a park right at the top of the village with great views.........what more can you want?
In the surrounding area is the famous "Cuevas de la Pilota" - prehistoric caves and paintings. "Las Cuevas del Gato" is a natural cold water pool, often with a waterfall pouring out of the mountain, where children leap off high rocks into the freezing waters below, a great spot for a picnic. Ronda has lots of entertainments and museums, shops and restaurants, lots to do and see. So come and explore!
