The Valais region

From fresh air and sports to adrenalin or relaxation: experience the complete range of mountain sensations in the Swiss Alps Valais region. This tourist area runs from the source of the Rhone river up in the glaciers and along the river valley towards lake Geneva (hence the name Valais), and includes the well known mountain resorts of Zermatt, Crans Montana, and Verbier 4-vallees. La Tzoumaz is one of the 4 valllees. Its exceptional attractions and amazing scenery appeal to all kinds of visitors, from mountain enthusiasts and nature lovers, to those seeking an active or a relaxing break. Whatever the season, the mountains have so much to offer.

La Tzoumaz

La Tzoumaz forms part of the 4 Vallees domain which covers 410km of pistes. Whether you are a novice or an expert, there are many options to satisfy everyone's ideal winter sports holiday.

The area of La Tzoumaz-Savoleyres consists of 55km of pistes and is accessible both from La Tzoumaz and Verbier. Here you can enjoy superb slopes with panoramic views over both Bernese Alps or the Grand Combin, Grand St bernard and Mt Blanc massifs. On the North-facing slopes, the snow stays in good condition and on the south slopes you can take your time in the sun. So whether you are a fan of skiing, snowboarding, sledging, snowshoeing, ski touring, ice skating or just relaxing in the sun, everyone in the family will enjoy La Tzoumaz.

In the summer, La Tzoumaz offers fabulous family activities, especially in July and August when the cable car is open. For the more active and intrepid there is mountaineering, mountain biking, parasailing, and high altitude trekking. For families and others looking for more relaxing walks, there are plenty of possibilities of themed walks and signposted treks through alpine forests, beautiful meadows sprinkled with wildflowers and along mountain streams. There is also river fishing, fishing in the high altitude Lac des Vaux, tennis, riding and golf, and not to forget the thermal baths & spa at nearby Saillon with indoor and outdoor hot baths, swimming pools, Jacuzzis, steam rooms and saunas (Only 20 mins drive and open daily until 9pm).

Themed outings are organised throughout the year - check with Tourist office for weekly programmes. In summer why not try out the foraging & gourmet cooking walk, or the bird whistle walk or the 5-senses tour. In winter, there are daytime or moonlight accompanied snowshoe walks or luge runs, complete with fondue in a cosy mountain restaurant.

Last but not least, why not take a break on a sunny terrace to savour the region's gourmet treats, and explore the countless natural and cultural attractions of the Valais...
