The building, a 1860 villa, built by the anchestors of the present owners, is located along the prestigious viale del Poggio Imperiale, the ancient boulevard that runs from Porta Romana square to the Medici's Villa of Poggio Imperiale.
Located on the left bank of the Arno river, this green residential area is right outside the "limited traffic zone" defined by medieval walls and at the border of the historical district "Oltrarno" (www.diladdarno.it), renowned for art, Florentine life, small artisans and commerce.
The closest and most famous touristic sites and monuments are Porta Romana, Pitti Palace Boboli Gardens and Florence's oldest bridge Ponte Vecchio.
The Viale Machiavelli (called by Florentines "viale dei Colli", Hills Promenade), one of Italy's finest promenades, runs from Porta Romana and winds its way up to Piazzale Michelangelo offering a spectacular view of Florence and the Arno valley.
Nearby the churches of Santo Spirito, Santa Maria del Carmine, San Miniato and Forte Belvedere.
If you plan on renting a car while visiting Florence for daily excursions in and around the lovely hills of Tuscany, parking is available (by reservation and on payment) in a garage in front of the apartments or at the paid parking lot located in Porta Romana.
You can stroll into town or take advantage of the numerous bus lines that depart from and return to Porta Romana. Taxis are also located in the square of Porta Romana.
