The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
Torrevieja is on the coast of Spain, known as the Costa Blanca. It lies between Alicante in the north and Cartagena in the south.
The temperature and salt concentration in the air gives Torrevieja a special health-bringing climate which has been recommended by health personnel all over the world.
Torrevieja has 320 sun days a year, and 18 degree of an average temperature. Torrevieja has the same average day temperature as the Canary Islands.
The Costa Blanca is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Spain since the 1950s. It offers the perfect mix of sun, sand and exciting night-life but is also a great place to go for culture and a taste of traditional Spain. Areas like Los Montesinos, Algorfa, San Miguel and Dolores are particularly well known for their beautiful church's and local plazas. These small towns offer a real taste of the Spanish countryside while still being close to the bigger resorts like Torrevieja, and Guardamar Del Segura if you fancy a night out. It also has many golf courses 3 within 10 minutes drive away at La Marquesa (Ciudad Quesada) Villa Martin, Las Ramblas & Campoamour.
The nearest large coastal town is Torrevieja with its vast marinas, and an array of excellent restaurants, shops, coffee houses and bars. Guardamar Del Segura with its European Blue Flag Beaches is only 10 minutes drive, with a good range of shops, a weekly market plus a large marina with a promenade which holds regular evening craft fairs.
The port area of Torrevieja is home to a splendid modern marina, where you'll find diving centres, a sailing school, boat charter companies, fishing and scuba diving. There is also a beautiful promenade along the seafront where there are numerous restuarants and bars to suit all tastes.
There are glorious beaches, in the Torrevieja area. La Mata, La Zenia, Playa Flamenca, Los Locos, El Cura and Lo Ferris. These are some of the best (blue flag) beaches in the Mediterranean and most have entertainment area for children, volleyball nets, bars and restaurants.
The beaches lend themselves to a variety of water sports like windsurfing, surfing, water skiing etc. The two Aqua Parks have lots of water slides suitable for all ages and are well worth a visit. On La Siesta (within 220 yards there is a small Family Aqua Park) open in main season.
Fiestas are held here most months of the year when tourists mingle with the locals to party in the streets in true Spanish-style.
