The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast/Central Portugal region

The vast amount of cultural exposure you'll get from Portugal is immense be it in the way of visiting old castle at Óbidos, to indulge your taste buds in the cuisine or just take a relaxing vacation, you'll find many options to keep you occupied during your visit.

If you like getting your feet wet The Silver Coast offers a magnificent experience with its gorgeous beaches as well as clear blue water and not to mention the waves being ideal for one interested in surfing.

Being interested in golf pays off when you're here as you'll come across many courses with varying difficulties. If your into wine you'll be pleased to know that Portugal offers a wide selection of vineyards you to visit and study the process of how you produce one of its many wines and quite a few of them can be reached in less than 30 minutes by car from the house .

In Lisbon you'll get the chance to walk on the Rua Augusta and get a glimpse of the arch which also was built to commemorate the city's reconstruction after the earthquake in 1755. Or why not visit the Jerónimos Monastery which is one of the most prominent monuments to the Manueline-style architecture (incorporating a maritime theme as well as representing the discoveries of Vasco da Gama and Pedro Álvares Cabral).

There are 4 golf courses within a 30 minute drive from the house:

Bom Sucesso: (15 min) A resort on the other side of the lagoon. A Donald Steel design. Parkland with views of the lagoon and the sea.

Royal Óbidos: (20 min) On the Opposite side of the lagoon overlooking the sea and the lagoon itself you'll find Seve Ballesteros last project that opened Jan 2012 and its hands down the best and most challenging course in the area.

Praia d'el Rey: (25 min) The most famous course in the area. Its a Cabell B. Robinson design. Voted Europe's 13th best course. Mix of pine forest and very nice links course.

Golden Eagle (30 min) The holes bordered pine trees and cork oaks. Course Architect Rocky Roquemore.

On top of that you'll find 10-15 courses within a one hour drive from the house.

As we are keen golfers and have played most of the courses in the area, we'll be happy to help you if there are any questions or if you need any suggestions to what course will fit you. We'll also give advice to our booked guest how to get the best green fees.

Foz do Arelho

As mentioned Foz do Arelho offers a wide variety of activities to occupy you during your stay.

You'll find that the local population gladly will educate you in the art of surfing, horseback riding or even fishing if it suits your needs. But there are also quite a few shops there, mini supermarkets, pharmacies, a tourist office as well as the option to buy freshly baked bread at the local bakery.

A few bars and restaurants offer a selection of drinks and dishes that signifies the Portuguese culture but you'll also find cuisine that's typical to other parts of the world.
