North Down is a hidden gem in Northern Ireland. Thriving & prosperous. North Down is a wonderful area of Northern Ireland. There are so very many things to do & explore. This area is a coastal area with many varied & family friendly beaches. Stunning coastal walks & scenic routes. Country parks & town parks. If I were exploring a family day out I would visit the Folk & Transport museum in Cultra, a train ride away in nearby Holywood. If you wanted to explore a little further afield you may choose The Giants Causeway on the Antrim coast, about 1-2 hrs drive north.
Bangor is a thriving Market town. 30 minutes by train from Belfast & it's rich history. 20 minutes from George Best City Airport (Belfast).
Bangor has lots to offer in the way of leisure facilities, with the new Valentine Pool complex boasting leisure flumes. The Bangor Multiplex is modern & spacious for those 'must see' movies! There is a large shopping mall within walking distance (15-20 mins on foot) for those who just love to shop. You can walk into town from here, or take a 5 minute bus ride. You can visit the Marina, and have a leisurely coffee. The newly refurbished Pickie Park complex with traditional train ride for kids is a firm family favourite. Crawfordburn Country Park boast stunning forest & beach walks...so many things to do. Ward Park with its own lake is own a short walk too on your way into town.
