The Famagusta area has many places of interest to visit, from the water park outside Ayia Napa just a 10 minute walk from the villa, to the historic churches of Ayia Thekla. There is the monastery and harbour at Ayia Napa, and moving round the coast there is Cape Greko, which has many nature walks and a Chapel located on the edge of a small cliff, where many an adventurous tourist have lept off into the deep blue water.
You can visit the look out post at Derynia, and from there you can see the Ghost town of Famagusta, which has stood empty since 1974, with the use of the binoculars from the look out tower. Now the green line has been relaxed it is very easy to nip across the boarder through the army base located at Voroulyses, and visit the Turkish side. Protaras with its beautiful beaches is only a 10 minutes' drive away.
A suburb of ayia Napa, Ayia Thekla is a mainly residential area, with a sandy beach and lots of rock pools and a small island just off shore but within easy wading distance. There is a Small Church close to the beach which is worth a visit and a large water park that is about a 10 minutes' walk away. There is a cycling lane that runs from Ayia Thekla all the way to Ayia Napa Harbour. So with bike hire readily available in Ayia Napa for around 20euro per week this can provide a cheap and safe means of transport , and plenty of scope to visit many of other sandy beaches that lie between Ayia Thekla and Ayia Napa. In the other direction is the picturesque fishing village of Potamus, with a couple of fish restaurants that are well worth a visit. Nissi Beach probably the most well known beach of the region with its crystal clear blue water and white sand is only a 5 minutes' drive away. just outsite the villa there a bus stop that will take you to all the main spots and beaches of Ayia Napa and Protaras.
