The Cumbria/Lake District

If it's the Lake District you are after but away from the crowds of the tourist hotspots, then Bluebell Cottage could be just for you. Located just outside of Penrith in the small village of Ousby, the cottage is within half an hour of Ullswater and just 20 miles from Keswick. It is also in the heart of the beautiful Eden Valley and a stopover for many walkers on the coast-to-coast trail.

There is plenty to do in the area. They include: watersports such as kayaking and sailing at Ullswater and Keswick; mountainbiking and Go-Ape at Whinlatter Forest Park, near Keswick; swimming pool at Penrith; steam railways; pony trekking; and outdoor adventure companies offering many activities such as climbing and canoeing.

Penrith

Ousby is a small village around seven miles from Penrith, with the Fox Inn at the end of the road. Just a mile away is the village of Melmerby, with its famous bakery and coffee shop.
