The North West Italy region

Valle d'Aosta is a mountainous region in northwest Italy. It is bordered by the Rhône-Alpes, France to the west and Valais, Switzerland to the north. It is an alpine valley crowned by some of the highest peaks in the Alps: Mont Blanc the highest in Europe, the Gran Paradiso Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn.

The Valle d'Aosta is largely devoted to tourism in winter the ski areas extend for more than 1200 km of ski slopes. In summer, there are over 300 km of high-mountain trails linking picturesque alpine lakes, mountain huts, high altitude pastures, nature reserves and botanical gardens.

Rhemes Saint Georges

The Val di Rhemes Valley is one of the wildest and most authentic of the area and is part of the National Park of Gran Paradiso, the first Italian national park.

It is located in a unique natural environment, with its majestic mountains and valleys, where the animals (chamois, ibex, marmots and eagles) are still living in their natural habitat.

Half way up the valley you can see the little village of RHEMES SAINT GEORGES (1200 m above sea level) while at the top you reach RHEMES NOTRE DAME (1700 m above sea level)

Amongst suggestive woods, 20 km from Aosta, the commune of RHEMES SAINT GEORGES (1200 m) is surrounded by imposing alpine peeks. It includes 12 little villages on a hill that dominates the surroundings in the Gran Paradiso National Park.

The pride of this little rural commune is without any doubt the simple and direct contact with a natural and uncontaminated ambience where you can appreciate the peace of the mountains.

At the end of Val di Rhêmes, in a sunny valley surrounded by fields and woods, lies a little and enchanting alpine resort Rhêmes Notre Dame

(1723 m.), that will welcome you with its rustic and cosy atmosphere and offer you a variety of sport activities. People who love the high mountain fauna will be able to see rock-goats, mountain goats,

Alpine marmot, etc. Natural attractions also include splendid mountains, glaciers, wonderful mountain lakes and spectacular waterfalls as well as typical wood and stone houses in the old part of the village
