Uga Serena is a modern, luxury villa created from an historic, ancient finca. The house has it´s own private pool, secluded garden and is situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Uga. If it´s good enough for David Cameron ! The wine trail of La Geria starts just outside and Timanfaya (the Fire Mountain) is visible from the front door. There are a number of good restaurants and bars in the village, and a well stocked shop, and it is a short walk to Yaiza, twice voted the prettiest village in Spain. The area is perfect for walkers and cyclists (secure bike storage!) and is only 5 minutes drive from the "secret" beach of Playa Quemada. The house is built of volcanic rock, cool in summer and warm in winter and dates from the late 19th century, but has been extensively remodelled over the last few years. The location is ideal for walkers, cyclists and those who want to sample the ¨real Lanzarote¨. The nearest beach is at Playa Quemada, a five minute drive, and a hidden gem. The main tourist spots are 15-20 minutes by car, and there is a good bus servbice. The property benefits from the recent addition of a second kitchen, making it ideal for two sharing families

Lanzarote is the easternmost of the Canaries, only 60 km from Morocco. This makes it the driest and hottest of the islands. The daytime temperature rarely goes below 20c, even in Winter, and the sunshine averages out at over 12 houirs a day. The beaches are clean and safe, and the cuisine is international (and inexpensive!). The nightlife is busy in the major centres, but very quiet in Uga. The islands pretty capital of Arrecife is a short drive or bus ride, and offers increasingly cosmopolitan shopping and dining. Nowhere is more than an hours drive.
Uga is a small village within the municipality of Yaiza, which covers the southern third of the islands, including the volcanoes and wine growing areas. The village has several good eating places, including the famous ¨Bodega¨, with it´s adjoining fish smokery, and Yaiza village itself is a 5 minute walk. Yaiza, twice voted prettiest village in Spain, has several restaurants, including the ¨Salinas¨, with a Michelin starred chef, and the picturesque ¨Bodega de Santiago¨. Both villages have a well stocked minimarket and Yaiza has a doctor and pharmacist. There are frequent bus services to Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Arrecife. A frequent ferry service runs to Fuerteventura, for a good day out.
