Visitors will enjoy exploring the ancient "jitties" and courtyards, and the National Stone Centre, as well as the delightful surrounding countryside including nearby Carsington Water and the High Peak Trail. Rock climbing and cycling can be enjoyed here at every level, and there is good walking all around. Sat nav a must to find us first visit, very rural with many footpaths and the pubs are walking distance!! The market town of Wirksworth and Carsington water with its sailing club and shops nearby.(advise pre-booking of water sports at peak times)
Wirksworth is a busy town from which you only have to take a few steps through one of the many ginnels to escape to the tranquil church walk. Local produce is sold at the saturday market (first sat every month), cafes, La Mistral retaurant, antiques, bakers, brewers, butchers, etc, all to be found. Wirksworth Arts festival at the end of the summer is a must.
