Le Due Volpi B&B is located in a hidden part of rural Tuscany just 38 kms north of Florence, in the green and cool Mugello Valley, home of the Medici family and of Giotto and Beato Angelico. Quiet and peaceful, Le Due Volpi is only a few kilometers from one of Europe's best golf courses, and an hour's train ride from Florence, capital of Tuscany and one of the world's most culturally rich cities. The house and its surroundings are perfect for a relaxing and stress-free vacation, away from it all, and off the beaten track.
Four airy large comfortable romantic bedrooms with en suite bathrooms are available, each on a separate floor of the house, with exposed chestnut ceiling beams, terracotta or wooden floors, all furnished simply, but tastefully. A fully equipped rustic kitchen is set up in a covered and heatable loggia adjacent to the house, with 4 gas rings, little raised fire place for cooking meat, small fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and plates, pots and pans, and cutlery for 12. A long oak refectory table completes the room which commands a stunning view over farmers' fields. The garden and pool area are for your own exclusive enjoyment, as are the BBQ, table tennis table, and dart board.
The owners Heidi and Lorenzo and their two dogs are easy going hosts, who live on the property with their own entrance and terrace, and can be available with tips and suggestions on what to do to enjoy your holiday to the full. After a day's excursion or a walk in the hills directly from our house along well marked trails, you can relax by the pool with a glass of Lorenzo's red or taste one of Heidi's special dishes under the grape vine. They take care of the general maintenance of the grounds and pool, but are very discreet and will not be in your way!
If you like, a few times a week Heidi will cook her special Tuscan and Italian dishes on her AGA cooker and invite guests to the aia (old threshing ground) by the pool for an unforgettable evening.

Tuscany hardly needs introduction, but the Mugello area just north of Florence is yet to be fully discovered and appreciated. Its gently rolling hills have remained unspoilt and unlike other parts of Tuscany, farming is still an activity over here. The landscape is peppered with Medici castles and Villas, as this was the hunting ground of the famous family. The vicinity of Florence (one hour away by train!) makes this an ideal spot to combine relaxation and sightseeing. Other splendid art cities, like Siena, Lucca, Arezzo, are easily reached for a day's excursion.
Little towns like Scarperia, Vicchio and Dicomano and the capital of the Mugello, Borgo San Lorenzo are well worth visiting, for their simple and genuine appearance. The climate is several degrees cooler than Florence, and even in the height of summer one wears a wrap or lightweight jacket in the evening. Every day there is a local market in one of the towns, and for shopping lovers, the newly built Barberino outlet is well worth a visit. Lake Bilancino offers bathing and wind surfing possibilities, and the nearby Poggio ai Medici golf course is one of Europe's best. Horse back riding is a favourite sport in the Mugello and there are plenty of opportunities for horse lovers, including a new ly tracked excursions on horseback.
