The Limousin is a region full of lakes and rivers and is excellent for fishing, kayaking and water play. This is where you find fresh farm goods: duck, geese, the famous Limousin Beef. A visit to the local Limoges Porcelin factory is always fun. Visit an art exhibit at the local castle Sedieres, hear music in a cathedral, sample the many jams and honeys that are produced locally...and of course, the bread and pastries of the bakeries.
Our local village, Chamberet, has a lovely 12th century church as well as fine dining, yummy pizza and The Maison des Arbres-an arboretum with more tree species than anywhere in France. Treignac is a celebrated picturesque medieval city, the local Lac de Barriousses and several wonderful chocolatiers and pastry shops.
May & June: usually warm (60-75 degrees) with Spring showers.Very few vacationers at this time so towns and beaches are not crowded.
July & August: warm to hot (70-95 degrees) with occasional thundershowers. A good time to come if you like it warmer with bustle in the towns, markets are selling local goods-wine, cheese, foie gras. There are also lots of regional festivals, such as at the Lac de Vassivieres.
Sept-Oct: Cooling off though often an Indian summer offers a warmer spell.
