Chalford - the Alpine Village of the Cotswolds: Chalford is in some of the most beautiful countryside in the whole range of the Cotswolds. Nestled in the Golden Valley, one of Stroud's Five Valleys, Chalford is described as the Alpine Village due to its deep, well-wooded valleys. A walkers paradise with beauty around every corner.

Chalford was once a centre for the wool industry, with many beautiful old mills dotted through the valley, and the old Thames and Severn Canal running along the Valley bottom. Many houses you still can't drive to and the community of Chalford even re-established the use of a donkey for grocery deliveries!
