Welcome to Le Domaine de Loustalviel, a tiny hamlet of sympathetically restored 19th century farmhouses, set in over seven acres of tranquil, tree-shaded gardens and meadows that slope down to a tiny brook at the border of our land. Sleeps 6.

Spacious house has a large living area, two en suite bedrooms, and a modern kitchen. Each has its own private garden and outside dining/BBQ area. The houses are well equipped with LCD TVs, FreeSat, games console and internet access. All towels and linen are supplied. Cots and high chairs are also available on request.

The Domaine is set amidst lovely rolling hills, and has beautiful views of the Pyrenees. The 12 metre, heated pool (open April-October), has a safety fence and large terraced area, and is well equipped with sunbeds and shaded areas.

One and a half kilometres away is Pech Luna, a pretty hilltop village 1,000 ft up into the rolling foothills of the Pyrenees in the Languedoc region of South West France. It has a church, a mairie, a school, and very little else beyond a serene air of calm and tranquillity.

The Domaine is surrounded by ancient towns, churches, lakes, vineyards and prehistoric cave complexes. There are many activities to suit all ages, including just relaxing by the pool. Carcassonne and Toulouse airports within an hour.

Further details indoors

LoustalNeuf is our most spacious house. The walled garden is a suntrap; it faces South with wonderful views from the shaded barbecue and dining area over green foothills towards the Pyrenees. Inside, some of the original stonework has been exposed, so that you can look at, touch, and feel a century and a half of history – the ceilings have been raised to reveal the massive roof beams and to provide spacious, airy comfort for 4 to 6 people.

There's a double bedroom and a bedroom with 4 single beds, both very spacious, and both with en-suite facilities. The ground floor has a separate downstairs wc off the large (5x11m) open-plan sitting, dining and kitchen area. There's a wood-burning stove for the winter, and bags of room to relax (and have some friends round without having to sit on the floor!).

The Midi-Pyrénées region

The Langudoc is a sparsely populated region with a rich history and culture. Summers are hot and winters are mild. It is well placed for visits to mountains and sea.

Mirepoix is a beautiful market town that is really a medieval walled city. It has a cathedral, a wonderful Monday market, and a great central square for relaxing and watching the world go by. nearby attractions include the walled city of Carcassonne, Cathar castles, wildlife park, horse riding, markets, lakes and mountains.
