Sole Bay Cottage occupies a prime position on South Green, Southwold, offering views of the sea over the Green and is neighbour to the Red Lion public house. Southwold is renowned as the most English of traditional seaside towns; calming, steeped in history and architecturally interesting. The recently restored pier adds to the charm. Southwold has the Adnams brewery and their pubs serve excellent beers and food to a standard to match. Nearby are bird sanctuaries, heaths, marshes and the sandy beach stretches for miles.

The interior is painted entirely in pale ochre, blues and white with strong colours gained from the upholstery of the furniture, cushions and Oriental rugs throughout all the rooms. The furniture is almost all of light timbers, Oak and Beech, giving a casual and relaxing feel. There is no garden, but the house is one of the few in Southwold with access to the beach without crossing a road. The rear yard is excellent for the storage of bicycles.

We do insist on non-smoking tenants and unfortunately are not able to accept any pets.

The East Anglia region

“ Southwold is one of the happiest and most picturesque seaside towns in England; happy, but not cheerful in the cheerio-sense, and picturesque, but not in the quaint sense of Clovelly. It is a live little town, and it has, at least in its south half, hardly a building that is a visual nuisance. The scale of streets and houses is small. Urban three storeys are absent or rare. The inhabitants appreciate the character of the town”.

From Nikolaus Pevsner, The Buildings of England, Suffolk.

All around Southwold there are interesting historic sites and beautiful countryside. Suffolk is one of the least spoilt counties in Britain.
