Inside “La Bergerie” – more detailed:

La Bergerie was once a sheepfold and thanks to a lot of care and love, it has become a four person charming little cottage, having lost none of its original Périgourdin features.

The ground floor consists of a bright kitchen (equipped with a four ring hob, multifunction oven/microwave, dishwasher and all the necessary kitchenware). From here you cross the bunkroom, separated from the corridor by a curtain. Three steps then lead to the living area, complete with antique furniture, wood burning stove and satellite TV. This room opens onto the south facing terrace, a private suntrap which makes breakfasts pure moments of bliss.

On the first floor, an open mezzanine accommodates the double bedroom, and the separate bathroom and toilet. La Bergerie is part of the original buildings surrounding the courtyard; it offers views on the gardens, and the tennis court.

The Dordogne region

“The Dordogne département is for many people the picture-perfect image of the French countryside, a gentle landscape of patchwork fields, hilltop towns, turreted mansions and jade-green woods. Named after the most important of the region’s seven rivers, the Dordogne is better-known to the French as Périgord, spiritual home to two of the country’s enduring culinary passions – foie gras and the black truffle. The Dordogne is famous for its stunning cave paintings, as well as for its many fortified chateaux and bastide towns – reminders of the bloody battles waged here during the Middle Ages and the Hundred Years’ War.” – Lonely Planet Guide
