Our location is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing (on the edge of the Via Verde, an area of natural beauty) although it is just a 5 minutes drive or 20 minutes stroll into the centre of town. However, there are local shops and bars 10 minutes walk from the Casita. You can see the town and our night time view is of the Church and Clock Tower which are lit up. You can even hear the church bells!

The Casita is situated on the lower slopes of a small mountain but, on level ground and lies amongst almond, olive trees and grapevines and some apricots & peach trees too. There are many specific and highlighted tracks for walkers and cyclists on the Via Verde which is next to the property.

We have amazing mountain views with pine trees and an abundance of wild flowers, butterflies and birds. It is the perfect place for artists, ornithologists, hikers, walkers, joggers, cyclists and anyone interested in astronomy. If however, you are just looking for a relaxing and peaceful break, to enjoy what this stunning countryside has to offer, then we recommend Casita La Mimosa to you. During the autumn period there are organized walks from Bullas into the countryside near to the Casita, some of which are night-time walks. As we are on the Via Verde, we very often have cyclists on the camino near our Casita and we get to see the annual cyclists competition, as they usually start the race near the entrance of our house into the Via Verde.

The Murcia region

Murcia: If you are looking for historical charms with a modern twist, Murcia City Centre is for you. Just 57 km (34 miles) from Bullas it is a wonderful vibrant and exciting city with more than its share of churches, a magnificent cathedral, beautifully renovated casino (dating back to 1847), museums (Salzillo being one of my favourites), parks, shops and many other attractions. Local transport in Murcia City is excellent especially with the new tram service (Tranvia) which will take you across the city and out to the local shopping centres (where there´s free parking!), also to the water park and zoo (TerraNaturaMurcia) and the University of Murcia.

The River Segura crosses the City from West to East and is quite lovely. There is a reliable and frequent bus service from Bullas to the City of Murcia, (details are available) with buses running every hour at a reasonable price. The hour on the bus into Murcia gives you the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views of the countryside local towns & villages en route and affords you the opportunity to relax and recover from your fun day out on the way back. There are many places of interest in the Murcia Region (details are available in the Casita).

Lorca, Caravaca de la Cruz, the Sierra Espuña mountain region and Alhama de Murcia (site of Murcia's new airport & proposed Paramount Leisure Park) are all within easy reach and provide a good day out. Why not visit Archena, just 35 minutes from the casita with its beautiful natural mineral spas.

If you love to shop, a trip to Thader and/or Nueva Condeminia (2 modern Shopping Centres with a large selection of shops, restaurants and a multi-screen cinema) is a must. If you are looking for that something special and love your designer wear, then La Noria is the Designer Outlet Center just for you. Less than 30 minutes from the Casita.

The climate in Murcia generally is considered to be a "hot subtropical semi-arid climate" with over 300 days of sunshine each year, making it the most popular holiday destination in mainland Spain.

The Town of Bullas

Bullas is a typical Spanish country town where you will experience the real Spain and its wonderful people and lifestyles. The Town was first recorded and mentioned in the mid 13th Centry although there is some prehistoric and Roman remains around the town. In 1689 the town was given its independence from Cehegin. Situated between the towns of Mula and Cehegin. Bullas D.O (Denominación de Origen' is Spanish for 'designation of origin'), and has a long tradition of wine making. There are many wineries in and around the town, once you visit the are you see that it is steeped in Wine Making and has a fabulous history with lots of local interests http://www.yougodo.com. From the Casita, at harvesting times you will experience the farmers gathering their crops including olives, almonds, various fruits and of course the grapes for wine making. You even get an opportunity to watch the 'treading of the grapes' in the town centre to kick start the wine harvesting and wine making season.

The town centre of Bullas provides you with all the usual amenities with an excellent selection of restaurants, tapas bars and even a pizza restaurant and there are many buildings of historical interests throughout the town. Go-karting, horse riding and paint-balling are all within the town area and, there is also an indoor swimming pool and many recreational areas in and around the town to sit and just chill with your friends or for your children to meet other Spanish children. Typically, Bullas comes alive during the evenings when the bars and restaurants open and families have time together enjoying the balmy evenings sitting outside at their favourite bar or restaurant. There are the the usual post office, banks, supermarkets, and various small independent and locally run fashion stores.

Molino de Abajo Restaurant is 5km from the apartment in a beautiful gorge style setting on the river Mula and is a typical Spanish restaurant/hotel with good service and excellent food. The Castillico is a venue for celebrations where they hosts the most wonderful weddings - a perfect place if you are thinking of planning a wedding with a difference. It also has 2 outdoor swimming pools 1 of which is for babies/toddlers and is open to the public during the summer months. More information can be found at: www.castillco.com or www.bullas.es,

There is a typical Spanish market every Tuesday and an excellent traditional Spanish crafts market (El Zacatin) on the first Sunday of every month.

You should know that in Bullas we celebrate fiestas with enthusiasm and it's worth checking your dates to ensure you come when there is a Fiesta. Late September for the Wine Festival is particularly exciting, as is Semana Santa (Easter).

There are two stunningly beautiful churches in Bullas, one in the centre of the town and one in the old part of town, both are open for services and accept visitors just looking.

Salto del Usero is a stunning cave and waterfall which also acts as a cooling off area during the hot summers for many of the locals. It is also worth visiting the Casa-Museo D.Pepe Marsilla which is based in the centre of town. The large outdoor sports area of La Rafa (also know as ´the centre for agroecology and environment´)has facilities for small camper-vans, camping, an outdoor swimming pool, bar and restaurant and, has wonderful grounds including a large area for BBQs a football ground, indoor gym and outdoor tennis courts. Most of the locals use this area for their regular evening walks.

You can visit the Wine Museum in Bullas for a tour on the history of wine making in the area and for details of bodegas and all the local wineries in and around Bullas. Many of the Bodegas will be more than happy to show you around and offer you a taste of their wines. Some may charge a very small fee for this and others simply hope you will purchase one or two bottles of their wines. There are a number of other interesting places in the town for you to visit (details are available in the Casita).

This area has excellent and very hot summers with temperatures reaching the high 30's. Autumn and spring are often bright and warm in the sunshine during the days but you will need something warm in the evenings. The winter months December to March can sometimes produce very cold days and occasionally even a little snow but this does not usually last for very long and simply makes the area look even more stunning with the mountains covered in snow. At this time of year you will need warm clothing - this is because Bullas is in a high spot.

Bullas has excellent road connections to many other cities such as Madrid 403km, Granada 252km, Valencia 305km, Albacete 240km & Alicante 128km. Alicante Airport is 110km & San Javier Airport 100km.
