In Elizabethan times, Appledore along with Bideford, was the largest importer of tobacco, and tales of smugglers and a nautical air can be found around every corner!

Situated on the North Devon coast, Appledore has something to offer everyone, whether it be a quiet holiday meandering around the quaint narrow streets of this historic fishing village and visiting the well established galleries, to activities such as surfing on one of Devon's finest blue flag beaches, kayaking on the River Torridge and cycling along the Tarka Trail. The village is full of charm with narrow lanes There is a good range of local facilities including a general store, newsagents, patisserie/tea rooms and highly commended local chip shop. There is a sandy surfing beach 1 mile away (Westward Ho!)

There is a annual visual arts festival (late May/earyJune) and book festival (late September/Late October). Appledore Regatta is held annually in August.

Art Galleries, Cliff Walking, Surfing, Cycling, Golf, Sailing, Swimming, Crabbing, Maritime Museum, Adventure Theme Park, Boat Trips, Sun Bathing, Castle Building, Sea Fishing, Kayaking, Photography, Pubs, Restaurants, Cafes, Tea Rooms are all on the doorstep of the cottage.....
