The mill a big farmhouse kitchen with all modern facilities, a lovely comfortable lounge with open fire for the cooler periods. It has a seperate dining room. The bedrooms are all beautifully decorated and furnished, they all have there own luxury en-suite shower rooms, hairdryers etc. The mill being stone built remains cool in the summer but has gas central heating and an open fire for the cooler months. The windows are all double glazed with internal shutters.
|Further details outdoors|
The mill has 2 outside dining areas, one with barbecue. Terraced garden with pool and sunloungers. Swings for children and 10 achres of private woodland.
The Mill is a 3 story building and there are many steps, making it unsuitable for some disabled people.
In the colder months we do provide all the wood for open fire, but unfortunately gas is very expensive in Italy so we have to make a nominal charge for the central heating, which normally amounts to around 30euros a day, it all depends on usage!
On driving to the Mill you will pass Ponte della Maddelena (the devils bridge) dating back to the 10th century. Lucca is the famous medieval town sitting inside its own defensive walls which are still intact, there is a famous Roman amphitheatre which has been changed into a lovely piazza, cathedral, churches, shops, restaurants, bars an a market, all within a 15min drive from the Mill.
We are 5mins from Bagni di Lucca well known for its medieval spas which are still used for relaxing skin treatments, also a thermal swimming pool. There is a large outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, horse riding and canoeing all 5mins away. Pisa is 45min away, Florence one hour, Sienna one and a half hours and the coast Viarregio 35mins.
There is a Music festival in July in Lucca, lots of summer village fares which include medieval celebrations. Bagni di Lucca puts on lots of musical evenings during the summer months. Also there are numerous religous festivals.
Viareggio has a carnival late summer.
