Porthole Cottage is located on the dramatic west somerset coastline, approximately 45 minutes drive from the M5.The Cottage is on the edge of the Exmoor National Park and the start of the south west Coastal path. The town of Minehead and the surrounding area offers some great family attractions from the West Somerset Railway to the steam boat excursions aboard the 'Balmoral and Waverley' and not forgetting the famous Butlins holiday resort.
Traveling west out of Minehead are the picturesque villages of Selworthy & Allerford, Porlock & Porlock weir and Lynton & Lynmouth. There are 'safari' excursions across Exmoor looking at the herds of deer and Exmoor ponies. Wimbleball Lake lies approximately 15 miles inland which offer fishing and various watersports
facilities.The nearby village of Dunster with its medieval castle and quaint shops & cafes, is well worth a visit.
