The Swiss Alps region

The Vaud district of Switzerland is one of the most diverse and beautiful. From the spectacular Lake Geneva to Montreux up to the impressive mountain tops of the Pays D'Enhaut a region of many unchanged quaint wooden chalets and villages. In winter Montreux holds a magnificent traditional Christmas fair where you can buy local gifts and crafts or just go along for the Christmas spirit, a few oysters and the local cuisine. Summer holds the famous Jazz festival in July. Bulle has a medeval chateau, a hill top village in the region of Gruyere famous for cheese making a real must to see. Chocolate lovers visit a factory where you may eat as much chocolate as you like! Further up Les Moulins, Chateau D'oex, Rougemont, Saanen and Gstaad are close neighbouring typical swiss mountain villages full of character and history. There are numerous antique shops on the way. Diableret is a natural glacier and skiing carries on through most of the seasons.

Chateau-d'Oex

Chateau D'oex is a friendly village with a great community spirit. Shops, restaurants, cafe's, large co-op supermarket, chemist, hospital, tenpin bowling/games venue, ice-skating rink, outdoor swimming pool, with an Anglican and Catholic church. There is a nursery ski school with professional ski instructors for beginners with a warm cosy cafe so you can look at your little ones learning to ski Easy access to La Braye pistes opposite the apartment. Advance skiers head to Rougemont - Gstaad 250km of pistes.
